You’ll design and build scalable data systems that power the platform. This includes working across the full data pipeline — from ingestion to processing to storage.
This is a hands-on role with ownership over how data is structured, processed, and maintained.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Data engineering experience
Experience designing and building data systems.
End-to-end pipeline ownership
Comfortable owning both ingestion and processing, not just data transfer.
Platform engineering background (optional)
Platform engineers with prior hands-on data experience are considered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design scalable database backends
Build data ingestion and processing pipelines
Design data backends and select appropriate data stores
Own both ends of data pipelines

About Refute
We’re building AI systems to help organisations detect and respond to disinformation attacks in real time. Our platform combines machine learning, proprietary knowledge of attack and defence techniques, and experience building large-scale, high-throughput data analysis systems. The founding team brings over forty years of combined experience creating data systems used by national security and commercial organisations. After strong early traction, we’re now accelerating the build-out of the platform.
