C++ Low-Latency Developer
A leading global hedge fund is hiring hands-on C++ developers to build new low-latency systems that process high-volume market data. Fully remote from anywhere in Europe, on a 12-month contract that converts to a permanent role.
This is a coding role. You write, profile and ship performance-critical C++ every day, as part of a small team of strong engineers building new systems from scratch.
What you'll do
Write and own modern C++ (C++17/20) components of new market-data and distributed systems.
Profile and optimise for latency and throughput: data structures, memory and cache behaviour, threading, the network path.
Test properly: unit, integration, stress and performance tests.
Turn requirements into working code with the rest of the team, from design to production.
What we're looking for
6-10 years of professional software engineering, with C++ as your main language in your day-to-day work (not only listed as a skill).
Production experience on performance-critical or low-latency systems.
Solid concurrency and multithreading in C++, and a good feel for how code runs on the hardware (cache, memory, CPU).
Comfortable on Linux with profiling and debugging tools.
Networking basics: TCP, UDP, multicast, messaging / pub-sub.
You still code every day and want to keep doing so. This is an individual-contributor role, not a lead or management position.
Your industry doesn't matter. Trading firms and banks are a natural fit, but strong low-latency C++ developers from semiconductors, EDA, FPGA, networking and telecom, embedded and real-time, aerospace and defence, automotive, game engines and HPC are just as welcome.
Nice to have
Market data, feed handlers, order books, FIX or ITCH.
Lock-free programming, kernel-bypass networking (DPDK, Solarflare/Onload), NUMA- and cache-aware design.
Competitive programming, open-source C++ contributions, or similar evidence of strong coding.
