What we're looking for
- Proven track record in operationalizing ML models
- Strong grasp of modern ML infrastructure
- Experience with ASR, speech models, or audio ML
- Ability to work independently on ambiguous problems
- Remote work capability in the Americas
About the role
The role involves taking ownership of the models that power clinical products, with a primary focus on developing speech-to-text solutions for medical consultations in Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish. This is a challenging domain where existing ASR solutions are inadequate, and the company has a unique data advantage through its scribe product.
The scope of work extends beyond ASR to include LLM fine-tuning, small language models, and clinical classifiers. The role is not purely research-focused; it requires someone who can transition from reading research papers to deploying trained models in production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the speech-to-text stack from data curation to deployment, including training pipelines, evaluation, and fine-tuning.
- Building a data flywheel by converting scribe-generated transcripts into a valuable training asset.
- Establishing and maintaining training infrastructure, including GPU orchestration and experiment tracking.
- Designing evaluation frameworks that reflect real clinical performance.
- Collaborating with the AI team on LLM orchestration, fine-tuning, and classifier work for clinical tasks.
- Partnering with product and medical teams to translate clinical requirements into model requirements.
The role is remote, based anywhere in the Americas, with a preference for candidates in São Paulo or Medellín due to office locations. The position offers a competitive salary and meaningful equity.
