Data and Information Management Architect
About the Role
A European institutional client is looking for a Data & Information Management Architect to join their IT operations team on a contract basis. You'll serve as the key technical authority on data architecture - designing and communicating enterprise-wide database, analytics, and data governance solutions, and leading development teams through complex, large-scale deployments.
You'll have previously played a key architect role in at least two enterprise-wide data catalogue, data architecture, or advanced analytics platform deployments. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role operating within a structured, security-conscious institutional environment.
A personal security clearance is required.
What You'll Do
Architecture Design & Standards
Set standards for design, development, quality, and testing across data systems
Design and communicate enterprise-wide database architecture, schemas, analytics platforms, BI services, and data governance frameworks
Translate business, user, and technical needs into scalable, secure architectures
Map business goals, project benefits, priorities, components, and system features
Identify options for potential solutions and evaluate technologies
Maintain and track architecture across the systems lifecycle
Contribute to the Enterprise Architecture repository and manage required artefacts
Requirements & Analysis
Elicit needs and analyse requirements from business and technical stakeholders
Analyse available systems, applications, and services
Estimate and size network infrastructure in line with system and business application requirements
Collect and interpret system metrics
Optimise systems from performance, security, and quality perspectives
Delivery & Leadership
Lead development teams and development processes
Contribute to systems design, testing, quality assurance, and change management
Prepare system documentation and deliver presentations to varied audiences
What We're Looking For
Technical Knowledge
Proven track record as key architect in at least 2 enterprise-wide data catalogue, data architecture, or advanced analytics platform deployments
Expert-level knowledge of Big Data and Modern Data Warehouse systems architecture
Expert-level knowledge of designing enterprise-level data architectures - capacity planning, security, databases, and analytics platforms
Strong knowledge of Big Data processes and solutions: data storage, processing, analysis, Data Governance, Data Catalogue, Common Data Model, database monitoring and troubleshooting
Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases, Big Data analytics platforms, BI and visualisation tools, and modern data warehousing
Sound knowledge of open-source Big Data services: Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Storm, Kafka, and similar
Knowledge of Identity Management, Active Directory, cloud integration patterns, database integration and migration, data engineering, SAS VA, and Microsoft Power Platform
Proficiency in UML for systems and application design
Experience with systems modelling tools (Sparx Enterprise Architect, ARIS Architect, or similar)
Familiarity with architecture frameworks and standards: TOGAF, Zachman, Azure Well-Architected Framework, or similar
Familiarity with ICT process design and implementation per ITILv4
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles
Nice to Have
Understanding of the EU AI Act and its architectural implications
Experience with ArchiMate modelling
