The Opportunity

We are building out our Cloud Centre of Excellence (CCoE) and are looking for a senior Cloud Platform Engineer to become the go-to specialist for our Internal Development Platform (IDP). You will co-develop and extend that platform, working alongside a dedicated platform team and serving a broad base of engineering clients across the organisation.

This is not a support role. You will own meaningful design and architecture decisions, drive proactive improvements, and act as a trusted advisor to project teams on cloud provider selection, infrastructure patterns, and platform security.

What You'll Do

Platform Engineering

• Design, document, deploy, and maintain stacks on the Cycloid IDP.

• Build and publish reusable components and service catalogue entries for consuming teams.

• Run proof-of-concept and prototype work for new infrastructure and component solutions.

• Ensure every component meets defined standards for security, reliability, and availability.

• Produce and maintain thorough operational documentation for all system-level tasks.

Advisory & Architecture

• Provide advisory services to help project teams select the right cloud provider and services for their use case.

• Assist project managers and solution architects in identifying technical solutions to functional or regulatory requirements.

• Support delivery of new cloud accounts and assist with their initial configuration.

• Investigate technical issues and analyse candidate solutions under the supervision of the Head of Sector.

Coordination & Stakeholder Engagement

• Participate in coordination and project meetings.

• Coordinate change and monitoring tasks with the platform team and other technical stakeholders.

• Contribute to wider CCoE tasks, including helping organise and distribute work among colleagues.

• Provide platform support and integration guidance to client teams.

Must-Have Requirements

• 10+ years designing, configuring, and leading administration of large AWS or Azure environments.

• 1+ year on at least one sovereign cloud provider (Clever Cloud, STACKIT, Scaleway, or S3NS), with Terraform provider experience.

• 6+ months hands-on with Cycloid.

• Master's degree or equivalent (EQF Level 7 / 5 years' higher education).

• English B2 minimum.

• EU nationality required.

• Security clearance will be required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) or IBM Cloud environments.

• Familiarity with enterprise change management processes (incident, problem, change, configuration management workflows).

• Track record operating within regulated or security-sensitive environments.

• Experience advising and guiding engineers in a cloud centre of excellence or platform team context.

Technical Assessment

Shortlisted candidates will be asked to address the following scenario in writing. Responses are evaluated on technical expertise, methodological clarity, problem-solving, and communication effectiveness.

Scenario: 3-Tier Java + PostgreSQL Deployment via Cycloid

In the context of deploying an Internal Development Platform:

• How would you architect a Cycloid solution to deploy a 3-tier Java and PostgreSQL application stack on one of the specified sovereign cloud providers (Clever Cloud, STACKIT, Scaleway, or S3NS)?

• What deployment challenges would you anticipate, and how would you resolve them?

• In each answer, reference specific lessons from previous projects.
