Data Center Technician (DCT)
The opportunity
We're hiring a Data Center Technician (DCT) for a long-term, on-site engagement supporting the physical data center operations of a major EU Justice & Home Affairs agency in Warsaw. This is a hands-on, physical infrastructure role - installing, cabling, and maintaining server and network hardware - not a remote sysadmin or cloud-engineering position.
The role
You'll be responsible for the full lifecycle of physical data center hardware: commissioning and decommissioning equipment, maintaining rack layouts and cabling standards, running inventory audits, and supporting change and maintenance-window processes. You'll work closely with the DC Contract Manager on hardware maintenance/RMA and oversee third-party contractors on site.
What you'll do
Install and decommission data center components, servers, and network switches, following "Rack & Stack" procedures
Maintain cabling and labelling end-to-end, verifying against documented standards
Manage stores & logistics - upkeep of the DC store, receiving deliveries, owning the hardware lifecycle
Run inventory audits and produce capacity/hardware-health reporting
Support hardware maintenance and RMA processes together with the DC Contract Manager
Plan capacity and rack layouts, and oversee third-party contractors working on site
Maintain documentation for maintenance management and planned-maintenance-window notifications
Prepare and execute changes to the Data Centre / IT core infrastructure
What you bring
3+ years of overall IT experience, including 2+ years in a similar data center operations role
Hands-on experience with server/network device installation, rack layouts, PDU and cabling standards
Basic LAN/patching/switch networking knowledge
Experience with asset management/inventory systems, change management, and data center procedures
Strong hardware troubleshooting skills and structured documentation/reporting habits
Comfortable working in a data center environment (noise, cold, confined spaces) and proficient in manual handling of heavy IT/DC equipment
Able to travel between sites in Poland and abroad as required
Valid driving licence, category B
Bachelor's degree or higher; English proficiency at B2+ level
Willingness and eligibility to obtain and hold a CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL personal security clearance (screening must be initiated within the first 45 days of assignment)
Logistics
Location: Warsaw, Poland - on-site at the client's HQ (approx. 70% on client premises / 30% off-site), with occasional travel to other sites
Engagement: long-term contract, initial 12-month term with the possibility of up to 3 annual renewals (up to 48 months total)
Start date: as early as November 2026
Travel: occasional, reimbursed up to €8,000 per 12-month period
Clearance: CONFIDENTIEL UE/EU CONFIDENTIAL - screening to be initiated within the first 45 days of assignment
