Automation Engineer
The opportunity
We're hiring an Automation Engineer to join a large-scale IT operations programme for a major EU agency, delivered through a specialist staffing partner. This is a fully on-site role at the agency's headquarters in Warsaw, with no travel foreseen.
The role sits within a highly regulated environment, and requires a Personal Security Clearance (level to be confirmed at contracting stage).
The role
You'll design, build, and maintain the automation that keeps IT operations running - provisioning, configuration, monitoring, deployment, and incident response - across virtualization, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure, while helping the wider organisation move from manual processes to automated, repeatable ones.
What you'll do
Design, implement, and maintain automated systems and tools supporting IT operations - infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, deployment, and incident response (across VMware, Azure/AWS/Google Cloud, Windows Server, and Linux Red Hat)
Analyse existing IT processes and workflows, identify areas for improvement, and propose and develop automation strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance scalability
Write scripts and develop code (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to automate routine tasks, data processing, and system integration
Use configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible) and infrastructure-as-code frameworks (e.g. Terraform, VMware ARIA Automation) to automate provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure components
Recommend and implement IT best practices
Implement changes according to ICT change management procedures
Provide 2nd line support to other IT teams and coordinate with 3rd line support
Update technical documentation and operating procedures
Evaluate and implement IT security standards
Participate in coordination and project meetings
Take on other specific duties aligned to the profile, as assigned by the supervisor
What you bring
Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible
Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or VMware ARIA Automation
Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g. VMware vSphere) and cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux Red Hat configuration and automation
Experience collaborating with multiple support groups
Experience with ticketing systems and ITIL-based change, configuration, and release management processes
Good organisational and prioritising skills
A proactive attitude, team-work spirit, self-motivated with a strong user orientation
Good communication skills
Able to cope with fast-changing technologies

Location: Warsaw, Poland - fully on-site
Engagement: framework contract, via Specific Contract, with renewal terms per the framework
Clearance: Personal Security Clearance required
